Armoured Fighting Wehicle type 8×8 is an armoured modular wheeled vehicle that has been designed for protected transportation and combat purposes and can be equipped with interface to various weapon and mission systems. The vehicle can carry high payloads strategically on the road and manoeuvre tactically in difficult off-road conditions throughout its operating range.
The vehicle is capable of operating under the conditions of the mass destruction weapons use while ensuring the protection of the crew without the use of individual means of protection inside the vehicle and with ensuring of sufficient airspace protection.
The vehicle is designed to fight with living force, destruction of armored and non-armored vehicles and and other lightly fortified enemy devices.
BOV 8×8 is designed as the main tactical vehicle of mechanized units capable of transporting a unit (mechanized team) with adequate balistic protection, mine protection and NBC protection to provide firing support to infantry. BOV 8×8 on Patria AMVXP 8×8 SK chassis platform is integrated with the TURRA 30 remote workstation weapon system. It protects the vehicle itself and provides fire support for other troops.
The vehicle can be transported by rail, road, sea or air over strategic distances.
BOV 8×8 is armed with 30 mm automatic cannon with coupled 7.62 mm machine gun, Anti-tank guided missiles launcher for two 3rd Generation missiles, fire control system and ammunition container. Weapon station is stabilized in two levels – 360° in azimuth and min. -10° to + 70° in elevation. It is equipped with observation and aiming gunner sight and independent panoramic observation and aiming commander sight.
BOV 8×8 allows to overcome water obstacles at full combat weight.
Patria AMVXP 8×8 SK platform is an amphibious armoured modular wheeled vehicle that has been designed for protected transportation and combat purposes. The vehicle maximum combat weight is 28 000 kg and can maneuver tactically in difficult off-road conditions throughout its operating range.
